Bamenda, January 30, 2026 – Social communicators from across the Archdiocese of Bamenda gathered on Friday for a one-day refresher workshop designed to strengthen their skills ahead of the official resumption of the daily radio program “On the Line from Our Parishes” (OLP).

Declaring the workshop open, the Chancellor of the Archdiocese, Rev. Fr. Derek Che Cheh, welcomed participants on behalf of the Archdiocese and described social communication as a vital pastoral mission. He emphasized that their work fosters unity across the Archdiocese and gives visibility to parish life. He encouraged them to serve with commitment, patience, and a shared determination to grow together despite challenges.

The training focused on news gathering, writing, and presentation, with special attention given to the proper use of Church terminology as well as accuracy, clarity, and responsibility in reporting. Participants also received practical guidance on recording quality audio using mobile phones, an increasingly important tool in parish-based communication.

Communicators were advised to summarize information clearly, avoid repetition, and maintain close collaboration with parish authorities before going on air.

In their final resolutions, participants committed themselves to improving the quality of news content, enhancing audio standards, and delivering clearer announcements. The workshop also officially confirmed that the Online Listening Platform (OLP) will resume broadcasting on Monday, February 9, 2026.
