The Organization of Catholic Parents’ and Teachers’ Association (NOCPTA), meets at a time when Catholic Education has witnessed a significant drop in its enrollment.
In his opening address for the two-day event, beginning November 22, 2023 in the National Episcopal Conference of Cameroon, Mvolye, the National Secretary for Catholic Education in Cameroon Rev. Fr. Zephyrinus Yem Mbuh told participants that the drop of about 12,000 enrollment for the 2023/2024 academic year, compared to last year, is due to an addition in school fees. To meet the Minimum Wage (MW), as stipulated in decree Prime Ministerial decree N02023/00338/PM/21/2023), revising MW from FCFA 36,270 to FCFA 60,000 per month for private education, and some other sectors, various dioceses had increased fees to make ends meet.
