Philippe Accilien, USAID Cameroon Country Representative has praised the National Episcopal Conference of Cameroon (NECC) for their efforts towards creating an HIV-free Cameroon.

Mr. Accilien was speaking during his visit to the CoSMO Project in the West Region of Cameroon.

The CoSMO project is a co-created community-based initiative of USAID, NECC and several other stakeholders including government line ministries, is focused on, is focused on improving the lives of orphans and vulnerable children (OVC) who are infected or affected by HIV.

Mr. Accilien at the end of the visit expressed his admiration for the dedicated and committed NECC and partners involved in CoSMO, who are working hard to help those with HIV get tested and treated.

“What I’ve seen is dedicated and committed partners doing their utmost to advance the issues of dictating people with HIV, get them tested and get them on treatment,” he said.

Mr. Accilien’s visit to CoSMO spanned three days, during which he visited the project’s zonal office in Bafoussam on March 18, 2024, and then two sub-implementing partners – Diocese of Bafoussam and Horizons Femmes – on March 19 and March 22 respectively

The CoSMO project, which is funded by USAID-PEPFAR, is currently supporting over 65000 OVC in Cameroon.

The primary goal of the visit was to witness the impact of the project on the lives of OVC. It is worth noting that the CoSMO project is being implemented in 68 health districts across all 10 regions of Cameroon.
